Official Opening
On Friday 18th June, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath was officially opened jointly by Éamonn de Buitléar, the local well known musician and natural historian, and Denis de Búrca, who, at 8 years old, is the oldest pupil in the school. While the doors of this magnificient new building have been open to pupils for the past two years the official opening was an occasion of great pride for its founding committee.
The children displayed their talent for singing and reciting poetry as each class performed for the parents, friends and invited guests. The chairperson of the Foras Pátrúnachta, the Bord Bainistíochta, Coiste na dTuismitheoirí and Múinteoir Eoghan spoke of the great efforts made by the bunchoiste to set up this new school with a state of the art building. They also highlighted the contribution of each and every parent in the school. They acknowledged the hard work of all staff members.
Éamonn de Buitléar entertained us with tales of growing up with Irish and performed and tune or two on his harmonica. Then he took up the position for cutting the ribbon with Denis de Búrca.
Once the school was opened, the children led the way into the school and all present followed. We were treated to wonderful food and refreshment by Coiste na dTuismitheoirí.
It was a very memorable day for all involved and we would like to thank all those who helped in ensuring that it was such a success.

Welcome back!
We are delighted to welcome all our children back after the summer holidays. We are so pleased to welcome our new infants and their families to the school. We would also like to welcome Múinteoir Tríona to our staff.
We are now in our third year with classes up as far as Rang a 3. It is wonderful to see the school growing and we are certainly growing at a great rate. We currently have 86 enrolled in the school.
Over the coming months, this site will be updated with details of the activities and events taking place in the school. Please come and visit our site regularly to find out all about our third year.
